Fascinating Talks and Social Amusements

Revellers' Club is for making social and business connections - and having an amusing, stimulating time at talks, backgammon, lunches, drinks, dinners and parties where you enjoy cocktails and dancing.

Over the last 12 months or so...

On 4th July, we devoured cocktails and danced to celebrate American Independence Day at London's premier Swedish cocktail bar, Kosmopol. (The Swedish connection? 1.3 million Swedes immigrated to the US in the 19th century. They're responsible for some fabulously good-looking Americans.)

Jonathan Aitken kept Revellers riveted talking about prison reform. Mark Hollingsworth discussed his book Agents of Influence - all about the KGB. James Bartholomew had us all terrified by the horrors of communist tyranny.

Catherine Meyer talked about her husband, the late Sir Christopher Meyer, Britain's longest-serving Ambassador to Washington since 1945.

As a working member of the House of Lords (Baroness Meyer of Nine Elms) and the UK's first trade envoy to Ukraine, Catherine kept a packed room spellbound with stories about Bush, Clinton and Washington and her unique insights about the latest news.

L'Oreal brand ambassador and Harley Street cosmetic doctor Dr Daisy Bennett entertained lady members about how to look (even) younger whilst downstairs at the bar, Sunday Times Best Selling author Col Stuart Tootal DSO shared his expert insights about the Ukraine war with the chaps over many pints of Youngs Original.

Restaurant entrepreneur Phil Eeles regaled how he and his business partners turned a festival burger tent into the £50m Honest Burger empire.

Ex Times chief leader writer, columnist and British Venture Capital Association DG Tim Hames discussed with Revellers The Long Shot, a book he co-wrote with Kate Bingham about the extraordinary tale of the UK's vaccine programme and its ultimate success.

Historian Charles Spicer spoke about his book Coffee with Hitler, how three British amateur spies could have averted World War II had the appeasing Chamberlain government listened. A fascinating evening - like the book.

It wasn't just talks.

Brinkleys hosted three exciting backgammon evenings,  and some of us enjoyed a wonderful weekend of fine food, sea and stimulating chat in Peralta, Tuscany. The New Year started in the way we all want it to continue, with a Revellers' Club New Year's Day Recovery Drinks, in the Prince Albert's terrace garden. We all wrapped up well and were warmed

by Bloody Maries, gas heaters and hot gossip.
