A brief history

Peralta was a 14th-century barracks where the Duke of Lucca's forces stayed before raiding the Florentines.

By the mid-20th century, it was in ruins. Then in the 1970s, renowned sculptor the late Fiore de Henriquez, restored it into an artists' retreat. Over the last 20 years or so, Dinah Voisin (David's Aunt) turned Peralta into a delightful retreat not just for artists.

All can feel revived and inspired.

It's uniquely stunning. Some of Fiore's sculptures are on display, including one of John F Kennedy and Augustus John. (Others for whom Fiore sculptured include Igor Stravinsky, Margot Fonteyn, Augustus John, Peter Ustinov, Vivien Leigh, the Queen Mother, Oprah Winfrey and Laurence Olivier.) You can stay there whilst you explore Tuscany's cultural marvels.

Today, Peralta is managed by Johann Schroeder, with Kate, Ale and the team ensuring your stay is as comfortable as possible.
