**TALK**
An Evening with Baroness Meyer, CBE, Ukraine Trade Envoy and friend of Clinton and Bush
Fascinating insights from the wife of the longest serving British Ambassador to the United States since WW2. Despite suffering from the enforced separation from her children, she set the Washington party scene alight with effortless glamour. Both Clinton and Bush became friends. Catherine is now a working member of the House of Lords.
All in the convivial company of your fellow Revellers.

I can't get your children back, but will you marry me?
Catherine Meyer is quite remarkable.
In 1994 she was forcibly separated from her two boys, who were taken to Germany by her ex-husband. Battling to rescue them three years later, she met UK Ambassador to Bonn, Christopher Meyer. “I can’t get your children back. That's for the German courts. But will you marry me?” he asked.
She accepted.
They were whisked off to Washington where Christopher had just been appointed the UK's Ambassador to the United States. Catherine got to know Clinton, Bush and indeed also Blair, all of whom lobbied the German Chancellor to retrieve her sons. But to no avail.
In 2000, Catherine founded what is now known as Action Against Abduction, a charity to help victims of child kidnap. In 2012 she was awarded a CBE for services to families and children and in 2018 was created a Life Peer (Baroness Meyer of Nine Elms). She is an active Conservative member and in 2020, Boris Johnson appointed her as the first British Trade Envoy to Ukraine.
